Helping Alabama Families Access Healthy Meals

If you need help feeding your family, you may qualify for meals and groceries through schools, local food banks, mobile pantries, and community programs.

Our Food Distribution program makes this possible by managing the supply of foods for public schools and other eligible participants in the National School Lunch Program. It also oversees the statewide procurement program and coordinates with USDA Foods for the Emergency Food Assistance Program and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. Alabama’s network of food banks plays a vital role in getting these foods to families and communities that need them most.

In some areas, mobile pantries deliver groceries directly to neighborhoods. These stocked vehicles are provided through Feeding Alabama, which operates eight regional food banks across the state.
